Derriford MRI Centre

The new Derriford MRI centre is located within the footprint of the existing Terence Lewis building and contained within the level 03 carpark and courtyard area. The MRI Centre is a new build facility of traditional construction. It accommodates Siemens MRI imaging equipment with a shared control area. Ancillary areas include patient reception, waiting areas, changing facilities, WCs, consulting and reporting spaces and bed patient preparation and recovery areas.

The MRI Imaging Centre has extensive and complex air handling, air cooling and electrical plant facilities. These facilities are located externally to the MRI Centre. The project demanded the complex coordination of mechanical, electrical and medical building services, specialist healthcare services, structural and civil engineering works, new build construction, internal fit out works and healthcare design. Delivering the new MRI Centre expanded Derriford’s diagnostics facilities. The department has been well received by the clinical users and patients.
